Young women prefer Facebook to MySpace

I recently wrote about the rapid growth of the social networking site Facebook, which had 30 billion page views monthly. Now Venture Beat writes that the site has jumped to 1.5 billion daily page views, or about 45 billion per month. Facebook is also far more popular among young women (age 17-25) than MySpace, according to stats from eMarketer.

How media reported on the blockade of Wild’n Fresh

The story about the salad bar Wild’n Fresh in Gothenburg that was blockaded by the Hotel and Restaurant Union (HRF) has been a major topic in media and in the blogosphere the last few months. The Local has the story in English. For those of you who read Swedish there was an interesting article yesterday in LO-tidningen, the magazin of the LO union. The writer has analyzed how media reported about the conflict and how HRF became the “bad guy”. It is well worth reading even if you don’t agree with all of the conclusions.

What’s in a name?

Ivo Pekalski, Astrit Ajdarevic, Jiloan Hamad, Miiko Albornoz, Riki Cakic, Dalil Benyahia, Dejan Doslic, and Mak Džonlagic. A new twist on Twitter

I’m clearly totally out of fashion when I say that I have no desire to try out the new mega hype Twitter. That’s why it is a relief to read this lengthy blog post on Creating Passionate Users which goes into detail about how our brains react to similar “always-on services”. I can see that Twitter has many benefits, but I’ll pass for the time being.

“Coffee with your next-door neighbor could do more for your brain than a thousand Twitter updates.”
